Using Webex on Your Cell Phone

Here are the instructions on how to use the Webex app on your cell phone. One of the key benefits of installing and using the app on your phone is the ability to call from anywhere/anytime as if you are at your desk. This will allow you to call parents or students without giving out your cell phone number. It also allows you to check and delete voicemails directly from your cell phone.

(If you haven't yet installed the Webex app and need help with that, instructions are here)

To begin, open the Webex app on your phone

If this is the first time your using it, you'll need to sign in with your GSB email address. After entering your email, you'll be prompted to sign via Microsoft if you aren't already logged in on your device. Enter your GSB email and password and follow the MFA prompts to complete the sign-in process. Depending on your device and it's security settings, you may need to enable certain settings for CallerID and other features. Your device will alert you of this and prompt you to adjust those settings.

CALLING:

To make a call, you have several options both on how to find or dial a number and how to place the call. Two options are listed below. When you place a call you can either Call on Webex or Dial an Extension or make a Direct Call to an outside number.

• Calling on Webex: A Webex call will ring the recipient on their computer and phone app, assuming they have those setup to accept calls.

• Dialing an Extension: When you select Extension, in the Webex app, the call will ring the recipient's physical phone in their classroom/office as well as the Webex app on their cellphone, assuming that it is setup.

Direct Call: A direct dial allows you to enter a phone number directly and the recipient will be shown "(908) 234-1611 - Gill St. Bernard's" as the CallerID

OPTION 1:  Touch the Calling button at the bottom of the display. You can then choose a contact from the Recents list, or any contact you've added to Webex. Alternatively, you can bring up a keypad to dial a number directly by pressing the keypad icon in the top right of the screen.

When you've selected the keypad, you be shown a traditional phone keypad where you can dial a number directly and the recipient will be shown "(908) 234-1611 - Gill St. Bernard's" as the CallerID.

OPTION 2: Touch the Search icon at the bottom of the display. This is helpful when you want to call someone at GSB and you don't know their extension or haven't added them to your contacts. After you press the Search icon, you'll be able to enter some text to search for. Start by typing the name of the person you are looking to contact and a list will be auto-filled with matches as you type.

When you see the name/contact you are looking for, you can either touch their name to bring up more information and initiate a call from there, or press the Phone icon directly next to the contact to initiate a call. Here you can select between the previously mentioned Call on Webex or Dial an Extension.

SETTINGS:

To adjust your profile and settings, select the icon in the top left that shows your initials.

From this page you can adjust the following:

Availability: Set your Busy and Away times and control your Do not Disturb settings.

Profile: Adjust your Display Name in Webex and/or add a photo.

Settings: Control you audio and video settings, determine how calls are routed and/or where they ring.

If you continue to have issues with your Webex phone app, contact the Gill St. Bernard’s School Help Desk by email at help@gsbschool.org or via phone 908.234.1611 ext. 475
